Ruby Corchado, 14, disappeared after leaving for school on April 10, city police said at the time. She was last spotted on the 3000 block of Almond Street in Port Richmond, according to the department.

Now, in a GoFundMe campaign that went live on Tuesday, May 30, those close to the teen say she has passed away.

"Unfortunately she passed away yesterday morning May 29, 2023, after being shot in the jaw by accident," wrote page organizer Alyssa Rodriguez. Philadelphia police confirmed Corchado's shooting death to Daily Voice.

The youngest of four sisters, Corchado was set to start high school this year, Rodriguez said.

"She was an aunt, niece, cousin, and a friend to many," she wrote.

Rodriguez says the money raised on GoFundMe will allow Corchado's grieving family to afford burial and funeral services for a proper sendoff.

"Due to this sudden tragic incident that happened, we need help and would appreciate anything to help us put her to rest peacefully," Rodriguez wrote.

"She deserves it."
